After the last two years which will remain in everyone’s mind for many years to come, 2022 is shaping as the return to more normal conditions (although some would argue it is a new normal). Inflation has proven to be far less transitory that central banks were forecasting and, as countries around the world are learning to live with rather than eradicate the virus, ultra-accommodative monetary policies will be wound down. While the end game is becoming a lot clearer, the path and timing to get there is uncertain and likely to differ across various countries.
